Moving Forward By Stepping Back

Can you see the forest from the trees?

How’s your energy level today? Are you getting back into the swing of things after a long holiday weekend? Maybe you didn’t get the luxury of a long 4th of July weekend. Or maybe, like me, your office was closed but you ended up working anyway. I did, however, still take time for myself reconnecting with what makes me happy, also. Those of us who like what we do also need to take time to step back and renew our energy for our jobs once in awhile. Otherwise, we may find one day that we no longer like what we do. This will not be because we have a mean boss or a badly run company, but because we have over-saturated ourselves in our work. Sometimes we are our own meanest boss. 🙂

So what does this have to do with the AirCut haircutter, you ask? Everything. The refocus with which I returned to work helped me find a couple of new outlets for us to sell (details to come), helped me launch a thus-far-success Facebook ad campaign for our product (some of you may already be seeing our ad), and most importantly, it taught me that the best way forward is sometimes a step back.

How about you? Do you ever find you are so entrenched with a product that you need to simply take a break to get a new perspective? Has failing to do so ever landed you in trouble?
